Tilde vs LangSmith

The short answer

LangSmith started as an observability and evaluation tool for LLM apps and has grown into a platform for deploying agents too. It's a natural fit if your team builds with LangChain or LangGraph and wants tracing, evals and hosting from one vendor.

Tilde starts from a different place: what your agents are connected to, and what they're allowed to do. It serves tools from a catalog of hundreds of SaaS providers, manages the credentials behind them, screens agent inputs and outputs, and controls which people and agents can use them. You can bring agents built with any framework, including LangGraph.

LangSmith's observability and evaluation tools are mature. You get detailed traces, dashboards and alerts, and a full evaluation workflow with datasets, experiments, LLM-as-a-judge and human review. It works with any framework, not only LangChain.

LangSmith Deployment hosts agents built with LangGraph, LangChain and several other frameworks, and can expose them as MCP tools. Fleet, the no-code agent builder, lets people create agents with their own OAuth credentials, connect them to Slack, Gmail or Teams, and review actions in an inbox.

Where Tilde is different

The biggest difference is depth at the integration and control layer.

• Integrations without the plumbing. Create MCP tool servers from our catalog of SaaS providers, proxy an existing MCP server, or forward requests to your own API.
• Credentials you don't have to build. Tilde handles OAuth, API keys and custom authentication, including encryption and rotation.
• Security middleware on every agent. Tilde blocks jailbreak attempts and redacts personal information (PII) in agent inputs and outputs.
• Access scoped to the work. Workspaces and grants limit which people and agents can reach which resources, with single sign-on through your OIDC provider.

Using LangSmith and Tilde together

If you already trace and evaluate with LangSmith, keep doing it. Build your LangGraph agents as usual, give them tools through Tilde MCP servers with security middleware in front, and register them in the Tilde Registry so your organisation knows who owns each one and who can use it.

Which should you choose?

• Choose LangSmith if tracing, evals and hosting LangGraph agents are your priority, and a single vendor for that workflow suits you.
• Choose Tilde if your agents need many authenticated integrations, managed credentials, security middleware, workspace-level access, approvals or channels, in Tilde cloud or on-prem.
